#94: What is Baptism?

Baptism is a sacrament, in which the washing with water, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, does signify and seal our grafting into Christ, and receiving of the benefits of the Covenant of Grace, and our engagement to be the Lord's.

#95: To whom is Baptism to be administered?

Baptism is not to be administered to any who are out of the visible church, till they profess their faith in Christ and obedience in him; but the infants of those who are members of the visible Church are to be baptized.

Name the five things which baptism signifies.

1. The Covenant of Grace

2. The Believer's Grafting into Christ

3. Rebirth

4. Remission of Sins

5. Yielding to God to Walk in Newness of Life

#96: What is the Lord's Supper?

The Lord's Supper is a sacrament, in which by giving and receiving bread and wine, according to Christ's direction, His death is shown forth; and the worthy receivers are, not after a corporal and carnal manner, but by faith, made partakers of His body and blood, with all His benefits, to their spiritual nourishment and growth in grace.

#97: What is required to be worthy of receiving the Lord's Supper?

It is required of those who would receive the Lord's Supper worthily that they examine themselves, as to their knowledge to discern the Lord's body, as to their faith to feed on Him, and as to their repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, they eat and drink judgment on themselves.

Name the five things which the Lord's Supper signifies.

1. Remembering His Sacrifice

2. Sealing His Benefits

3. Spiritual Nourishment

4. Engagement to All Duties They Owe Him

5. The union and pleasure of that union with Christ and fellow believers.
