Management DKA?
Pneumonic - PANICS

Potassium 20mmol so long as no peaked T waves ECG
Acisosis <7.3 seek help - administer bicarb although under guidance
Normal saline (0.45% NaCl or 0.9%) 1L first hr
Insulin - 6units stat then 6U/hr
Catheterise and culture blood and urine
Stomach aspirate if decreased consciousness to prevent aspiration

Also ABGs + U&E's
Antibiotics may be needed if infection present as this may be the only way to correct ketosis

1. Cerebral oedema if blood glucose reduced too quickly (Rx mannitol to decrease oedema)
