Pneumonic - PANICS
Potassium 20mmol so long as no peaked T waves ECG Acisosis <7.3 seek help - administer bicarb although under guidance Normal saline (0.45% NaCl or 0.9%) 1L first hr Insulin - 6units stat then 6U/hr Catheterise and culture blood and urine Stomach aspirate if decreased consciousness to prevent aspiration Also ABGs + U&E's Antibiotics may be needed if infection present as this may be the only way to correct ketosis |
