All Officers responsibilities

1. Officers shall have the authority and responsibility to enforce the regulations and orders of the department and will be held accountable for such.


2. They shall promptly report, by well sustained charges, any flagrant violation or dereliction.


3. When an offense committed by a member under their command is sufficiently serious to warrant immediate action, officers shall have the authority to summarily relieve such member of his duties. An immediate verbal report of such action shall be made through channels, followed by proper and well sustained written charges on which official relief from duty may be made by the Fire Chief.

Company Officer

1. Shall not permit intoxicated or otherwise undesirable persons to remain in or about the fire station. Children will not be permitted without an adult.


2. Line up no later than 0830. Tardy or absent past 0800 shall be immediately reported to their superior officer.


3. May impose extra duty assignments for subordinates violations. Written report must be made and routed through channels to fire Chief.


4. Shall not permit members to go off duty until properly relieved.

Duty of all members

1. Promptly notify the appropriate superior officer of any inability to report to duty at the time required.


2. Promptly notify superior officer and BC of all matters they are involved in which may be a subject of major interest to the general public or media.

General orders

1. When a member receives an order that is in conflict with a previous order, he shall inform the officer who issued the conflicting order and be governed by his instructions.


General Conduct

1. No act tending to bring reproach or discredit upon the City, department or its members.


2. No member shall on or off duty use the uniform, badge or prestige of the department for the purpose of personal gain.


3. May not endorse any commercial or business enterprise with out Chief approval.


4. No member may render themselves unfit to fully perform their duty by use of drugs or alcohol. Members may not bring alcohol into quarters.


Charges

1. Charges in writing my be preferred for anyone who is alleged to have violated, the provisions of the Charter or ordinances governing the City of Fresno, rules and regs, or department orders.


2. Charges forwarded through channels to Fire Chief within 24 hours after alleged violation.


3. Fire Chief shall investigate all charges against member for malfeasance, misconduct, incompetence, inefficiency or failure to perform the duties and observe the rules and regs.


4. Fire chief may reprimand, demote, suspend or dismiss the member according to charter and rules and regs. Report forwarded to City Manager.
