Bedside Stand
Locaaated nest to bed and is used to store personal items and persoanl care equipment such as eyeglasses, dentures, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, powder. you will store bedpans, emesis basins, toilet paper, wash basins, urinal.
Overbed Table
This table is placed over the bed by sliding the base under the bed. It can be raised or lowered depending on the pt's needs & desires. It is used mainly for eating/drinking so must be cleaned to receive trays before serving meals. Clean off this table after providing personal care and place pt's belongings within their reach using this table.
Privacy Curtains
* Always pull completely around the bed when providing care. Remember, these curtains do not contain odors or noise.

* It helps to also close the pt's door when providing personal care.
Call Bell or Call System
* it is against regulation both federally and stat, not to provide a resident/pt with a means to contact help when they need it

* Therefore, always make sure that your pt. has access to their call bell.

* Remember, the call system is only as good as the staff that answers it.
Pt's Bathroom
1. never put anything on the floor in this room.
2. Make sure the call bell is in operating order
3. Keep area clean and dry.
Beds
1. Closed Bed - Top sheets are pulled up over pillow or with a cuff.
2. Open Bed - Top sheets are fan folded to bottom of bed.
3. Surgical Bed - Top sheets are Fan Folded to the side
4. Occupied Bed - Bed is made while patient is still in it.
Rules For Beds
1. Never use linen that is torn
2. Always use linen that is clean and discard linen that has touched the floor or contaminated surface.
3. Never bring extra linen into a pt's unit.
4. Never shake bed linens at any time
5. never allow linens to touch your uniform
6. never put dirty/soiled linen on the floor
7. Always adjust the bed, horizontally, before making the bed to protect your back.
8. Make sure that all linens, placed on a bed, are thight and without wrinkles so that the patient does not get bedsores or Decbiti becubitus ulcers.
Draw Sheet/lift Sheet
*Small sheet or half of a full sheet that is placed crossway's across the bottom sheet.
*It keeps the bottom sheet clean and dry.
*It is used to lift or reposition a pt. in bed.
* it keeps the pt. dry by absorbing moisture.
