What does the Bible having authority mean?

What Christians believe about God and how they should live is guided by the Bible. God inspires them through the Bible, it is the Holy Spirit that makes it touch their hearts.

What do fundamentalists believe?

That God virtually dictated the Bible, teachings shouldn't be questionned and it is a factual and historical record. MIracles happened exactly as described, and where there are apparent contradictions, there is a lack of understanding over the text or truth.

What do Liberalists believe?

That the underlying message of the Bible is from God, but humans wrote it and could've made mistakes. Writers were writing for people of their time, so it shouldn't be taken literally because the symbolism is more important

Why is the Bible not out of date?

-Because it was inspired by God, so is eternally relevant


-Humans still have the same strengths and weaknesses


-Teachings on wealth are relevant in our materialistic society.

All Christians are called to be Holy through their baptism. They belong to each other and form a fellowship which includes both the living and the faithful dead. One day the Church wil be united in Heaven.

Christs death brought forgiveness of sins which makes salvation possible for those who believe Christians must seek forgiveness from God and freely offer it to others.

Everyone who dies will face judgement and the faithful will go to Heaven to rejoin God. Each believer will be raised to a new way of living eternally with God.

Why is Peter significant?

He is regarded by Catholics to be the first Pope, a leader of the early Christians as designated by Jesus himself.

The teaching authority of the Church

The Pope and all the Bishops.

What does The Magisterium do?

Minister to the modern needs of the Church through its teachings. The teachings must find their roots in the Bible.

What do Catholics believe about The Magisterium?

That God guides them through the power of the Holy Spirit so that it doesn't go astray.

What is the General Council?

When the Pope calls together all the Bishops of the world. The Pope has the final say on all matters.

In 1962-65. It was called The Second Vatican Council. They changed mass from Latin into the local language.
