What are different types of eyelid disorders?

1)Blepharitis: Inflammation of eyelid edges


2)Entropion & Ectropion: Inward and Outward turning of eyelid


3) Hordeolum: AKA Stye usually unilateral

What is a Hordeolum and it's Treatment?

AKA: Stye, Its an infection of the sweat glands in the eyelid can be internal or external.


Looks like a red, swollen, tender area on the eyelid. They are painful.


Stye's tend to be unilateral meaning they only affect on eye not both.


Tx: Warm compress 4xd, with antibacterial ointment.

Application of an Ocular Compress: Steps

-Wash your Hands


-Fold clean washcloth into fouths


-Soak in warm water


-place over closed eye


-keep in place with minimal pressure


-refold the washcloth, so a different fourth will be held.


-resoak


-Repeat
