Simile

Metaphor

a figure of speech that identifies something as being the same as some unrelated thing for rhetorical effect

Syntax

Allusion

an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference.

Alliteration

the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.

Analogy

a comparison between two things, typically on the basis of their structure and for the purpose of explanation or clarification.

Ethos

Ethos will simply mean the disposition, character, or fundamental values particular to a specific person, people, corporation, culture, or movement. The Ethos refers to the spirit which motivates the ideas and customs.

Pathos

represents an appeal to the emotions of the audience, and elicits feelings that already reside in them.

Logos

a literary device that can be defined as a statement, sentence or argument used to convince or persuade the targeted audience by employing reason or logic.
