We are capable of performing well learned skills with aremarkable degree of succes even though we have never been in a similar situation before.
we must coordinate varoius part oof our body in order to acheive the action goals of any skill. Underlying this amazing capability we have to perform such a variety motor skill in so many different situations and context in an active nervous system.
How the nervous system funtion to enables to carry out the movement requiered for the vast array of action goals we need to achieve ona daily basics?
Answering this question is the heart of this chapter.
TOPIC#1:
THEORY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
IN THIS SECTION WE WILL DISCCUSS WHAT A THEORY IS AND THE RELEVANCE OF MOTOR CONTROL THEORY FOR TEACHERS COACHES AND THERAPIST.
What is Theory?
in science theory helps us understand phenomena and explain the why these phenomenas exits or behave as they DO.
in what categority is include the study of human motor learning and control ?
in the behavioral sciences this theories focus on explaining human behavior. and WE LOOK INTO THIS THEORIES TO PROVIDE US WITH THE EXPALNATIONS ABOUT WHY PEOPLE PERFORM SKILLS AS THEY DO
, WHICH MEANS IDENTYFYNG VARIABLES THAT ACCOUNT FOR THE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERICTS WE OBSERVE. LOOK AT EXAMPLE. PAGE 81
A GOOD THEORY OF MOTOR CONTROL WILL EXPLAIN WHY THIS CAPABILITY IS POSSIBLE.
SUBTOPIC#1
WHAT IS THE RELEVANCE OF MOTOR CONTROL THEORY FOR THE PRACTIONER?
A Benefit of a basics understanding of motor control theory is that provides the practioner with a base of support on which he or she can develop effective skill instruccion and practice enviroments.
Analize fig 1, and analize example page 81
STATEMANT:
There is a connection between theory and practice analize fig 5.1
IF WE KNOW WHY PEOPLE CAN ADAPT TO A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS WHEN THEY PERFORM A MOTOR SKILL, WE CAN USE THIS KNOWLEGDE TO DEVELOP PRACTICE CONDITIONS THAT WE CAN CONFIDENTLY PREDICT WILL FACILITATE THIS ADAPTION CAPABILITY.
CONSIDER EXAMPLE PAGE 81 TO SUPPORT THIS STAMENT.
NEW TOPIC#2

MOTOR CONTROL THEORY.
What is theory ?
Again we know that a good theory should describe and provide expalnations for a large class of observables events.in support to this
What should a good theory of motor control describe and explain?
Researches generally acknowloge that it should describe and explain how the nervous system produces coordinated movement such that we are able able to succesfully perform a variety of motor skill in a variety of enviromental context.
what are the two essential issues important to a theory of motor control ?
1. is the meaning of the term COORDINATION.as it applies to motor skill performance.

2. Degree of freedom Problem.
it is important to point view that the author is telling us that the teories that we are going to learn are predonminantly at behavioral level. whitout attempting to specify neural-level features of control process
an important goal of behaviorally based motor control theories is to proposed laws and principles that govern coordinnate human motor behaivor.
What's COORDINATION?
IS THE PATTERNING OF HEAD,BODY AND LIMB MOVEMENTS RELATIVE TO THE PATTERNING OF ENVIROMENTAL OBJECTS AND EVENTS.
what are the parts the two parts that contain this definition?
the first part is that coorfination involves patterns of head, body and /or limb movements. altought it should be not limited to this use., this mean that when we refer to consider the assessment of movement characateritics of the performance regardless of the performance of the skill its necesary to consider coordination as referring as refering to the relantioship of the head , body and limbs at a specific point in the time during the skill at the specific point in time during the skill performance
what is the second definition and what explains this part?
The second part of the definition states that the pattern of head , limb and body motion is relative to the pattern of enviromental objects and events.
THIS IMPORTANT BECAUSE ESTABLISH THE NEED TO CONSDER MOVEMEMT COORDINATION IN RELATION TO THE CONTEXT IN WICH THE SKIL IS PERFORMED.
for better understanding look at example 83 the last paragragh.
THE DEGREES OF FREEDOM PROBLEM.
HOW DOES THE NERVOUS SYSTEM CONTROL THE MANY MUSCLES AND JOINTS INVOLVED IN PRODUCING A COMPLEX MOVEMENT PATTERN?
We must consider Bernstein theory that proposed that to perform a well-coordinate movement , the nervous system had to solve what he termed the degrees of freedom problem
The degree of fredom states that the number of elements or components in a control system and the number of ways each component can act.
Degree Of Freedom Problem?
a control problem that occurs in the designing of a complex system that must produce a specific result; the desing problem involves determining how to constrain the system many degrees of freedom so that it can produce the specific result.
