An economic system based on free enterprise in which individuals own and use capital
Capitalism
Political philosphy that originally called for ownership of all land and factories by peasants and workers, but now refers to government ownership of some or all means of production
Socialism
Social and political movement developed by Marx and Lenin who favored revolution to establisha classless society in which workers would control industrial production
Communism
A country which is in the process of becoming industrialized
Developing country
A country which produces greta quantities of goods and services and employ many of their own workers in the industry.
Developed country
An economy in which some central authority makes economic decisions
Command economy
A free enterprise country in which businesses are privately owned and what people buy and not buy determines what and how much is produced (supply and demand)
Market economy
System in which contains characteristics of a command economy and a pure market economy. Mix varies so that any economic system leans more toward one pure type than another. United States is this type of economy
Mixed economy
System in which economic decisions are based on customs, beliefs, and ways of doing things that have been handed down from generation to generation
Traditional economy
Hot and wet throughout the year. Found near the equator.
Tropical Rain Forest
Areas that are located further from the equator, bordering the tropical rain forest. In this region during the winter is the dry season and the wet season is during the summer
Tropical Savanna Climate
Dry areas with sparse plant life
Desert Climate
Dry areas often bordering deserts
Steppe Climate
Ocean winds produce cool summers and mild damp winters
Marine West Coast
Mild rainy winters and hot sunny summers
Mediterranean
Rain falls throughout the year and the winters are short and mild
Humid Subtropical
Snowy winters and shorter and cooler summers. This type of climate is influenced by landmass.

Long, cold winters and short mild summers

Bitterly cold winters with greatly reduced sunlight
