Assemble the equipment:


Soap


Warm running water


Disposable or sanitized towel


Tissue Paper

Introduce yourself and verify the clients identity. Explain to the client what you will do and why it's necessary

Assess the hands:


Nails should be kept short


Remove jewelry


Check hands for breaks in the skin, such as hangnail or cuts

Stand in front of the sink, keeping hands and uniform away from the sink surface.

Turn on the water and adjust water flow

Wet the hand thoroughly by holding them under the running water in, and apply soap to the hands

Hold the hands lower than the elbow so that the water flows from the arm to the fingertips

If soap is liquid,apply 2-4mp or 1tsp. If it is a bar soap, granules or sheets, rub them firmly between the hands

Thoroughly wash the hands in this sequence; use firm, rubbing and circular movement to wash hands:


Palm to Palm


Palm over Dorsum


Palm to Palm, finger interlaced


Back of finger to opposing palm with finger interlocked


Rotational rubbing of each finger


Rub the finger tips against the palm of the opposite hand


Wash wrist using oscillating motion

Rinse the hands starting from the fingertips down to the wrist

Thoroughly dry the hands using the disposable or sanitized towel; use different sides of the towel for each hand

Hand Washing Step 14

Grab the tissue paper and turn off the faucet. Hands are now clean
