Surfactant

Surfactants are compounds that lower the surface tension between two liquids between a gas and a liquid, are between a liquid and a solid the word surfactantis a blend of surface and active agent, coined c.1950. It effectively makes things more slippery (like the Pleura of the lung)

Crepitus

A clinical signs in medicine that is characterized by a peculiar crackling, crackle, or grating feeling or sound under the skin around the lungs are in the joints

Aseptic

Aseptic means something has been made contaminated free that it will not reproduce or create any kind of harmful living microorganisms(bacteria, virus, and others. Sterile describes a product that is entirely free of all germs.

Bronchiectasis

A condition in which airways of the lungs remain permanently damaged and widened due to persistent infection. This causes accumulation of excess mucus, a bacteria, resulting in frequent infections and breathing problems.

Petechia

A small (1-2mm) red or purple spot on the skin or conjunctiva, caused by a minor bleed from broken capillaries blood vessels. Petechia refers to one of the three descriptive types of hematoma differentiated by size, the other two being ecchymosis and purpura. Ecchymosis is defined as hematoma larger than 1 cm and purpura as 1–5 millimeters.

Cyanotic

Bluish discoloration of the skin/mucous membrane, due to not enough oxygen in the blood

Tetany

Tetany is a symptom characterized by the involuntary contraction of muscles that leads to painful muscle cramps, spasms of the voice box( i.e larynx) and sensory disturbance. It is most commonly associated with low blood, calcium levels, or hypocalcemia, although it can also appear with other metabolic irregularities

Thoracentesis

A one time drainage procedure that involves the use of a needle to remove, excess fluids from the pleural space between the lungs and the chest wall. Chest tube is longer term.

Thrombus

A thrombus is a blood clot in the circulatory system.A thrombus is most likely to occur in people who are immobile and in those with a genetic predisposition to blood clotting. A thrombus can sometimes break away from its site and travel to different locations in the body. When it’s lodges and blocks a blood vessel, it is said that embolism has occurred.

Tubercles

A small nodule, lumps and bump.

Prophylactic

A preventative measure taken to fend off a disease or other unwanted consequences.A prophylactic is a medication or a treatment designed a used to prevent a disease from occurring. For example prophylactic antibiotics, maybe use prior to dental procedures to prevent and endocarditis. A prophylactic is also a drug or device particularly a condom, for preventing pregnancy

Antipyretic

Maybe used to describe a drug that is used to prevent or reduce fever
