The 7 Program Design Variables?
1.Needs analysis

Requirements and Characteristics of the sport and assessment of the athlete
Resistance Training Variables (7)
There are 7 variables to consider when designing a resistance program
1.Needs Analysis
Requirements and Characteristics of the sport and assessment of the athlete
Things to Evaluate?
> Body and limb movement patterns and muscular involvement
(Movement Analysis)
>Strength, Power, Hypertrophy and muscular Endurance priorities
(Physiological Analysis)
>Common sites of joint injury, muscle injury and causative factors (Injury Analysis)
Athlete Assessment!
1.Profile clients needs and goals

2.Training status by conducting a variety of tests

3.Evaluating the results to set goal priority
Training Background?
1.Type of training program

2.Length of participation in previous training program

3.Level of intensity involved

4.Exercise technique experience
Physical Testing & Evaluation?
All tests should be related to Athletes sport
Exercise Selection?
Is dependent on sports goals, exercise technique experience, equipment availability and time availability
Core exercise are?
Anything that uses big muscle groups i.e Shoulders, chest, back, hip or thigh and are multi-joint
Assistance Exercises?
Recruit smaller muscle areas i.e upper arms, abdominals, calf, neck, forearm, lower back or anterior lower leg
Application of assistance exercises?
Are used more for injury prevention and rehabilitation
A core exercise that emphasizes loading of the spine can be classed as?
Structural Exercise
A Structural Exercise requires?
muscular stabilization of posture during performance of a lifting movement i.e (Maintaining a rigid torso and a flat back during a back squat)
Movement Analysis of the sport?
All exercise should relate to the sport participated in
Muscle Balance...
All muscles should have a balance of strength across joints and between opposing muscle groups i.e Bicep and Tricep
Muscular balance dose not always mean....
Equal strength just a proper ratio of Strength,Power or muscular Endurance of one muscle or muscle group relative to another muscle or muscle group
Exercise Technique Experience?
Un-skilled clients should progress through machines and free weight assistance exercises before core exercise are introduced
