Dependent variable |
The part that you are changing. |
Independent variable |
The part that you have control over, the part you can manipulate. |
What are independent and dependent variables in terms of effect? |
An independent variable is the cause of the effect, and dependent is the effect of the cause. |
Two types of independent variables |
active and attribute |
Active Variable |
A variable that can be manipulated. |
Attribute variable |
A variable that the clinician can't manipulate such as gender or age. |
What is reliability? |
The consistency of how much an event is measured. |
What are the types of reliability? |
test-retest alternate-form split-half interobserver (interjudge) intraobserver (intrajudge) |
What is test-retest reliability? |
The consistency of scores of a test given to the same person twice. |
What is alternate-form reliability? |
The consistency of scores when a similar form of the same test is given to the same person. |
What is split half reliability? |
The responses on the first half of the test correlate to the second half of the test. |
What is inter-observer reliability? |
two or more people agree to scores of an event |
What is intra-observer reliability? |
One person get the same score on a repeated event |
What is the difference between inter and intra? |
Intra is within. Inter is between. Intra would be within yourself and inter would be between others. |
How is reliability measured? |
r |
What is r? |
r= Pearson Product Moment r |
Why is a high measure of r important? |
The higher the measurement of r, the more reliable the test. |
Why is test-retest reliable? |
It shows stability of scores when two scores are similar. |
Why is alternate form reliable? |
It shows that the test would be reliable no matter which form was given. |
What does split half reliability generally do with scoring? |
overestimate instead of showing stability. |
Why is interjudge reliable? |
It shows that a test is reliable as it is able to get similar scores no matter who scores the test. |
Why is intrajudge reliable? |
It shows that a person can consistently score the same results. |
What is the correlational coefficient? |
It is the relationship between to or more measures. |
What does a r value of 0.00 mean? |
There is no relationship between two measures. |
What is the highest positive and negative value of r? |
The highest value of r is 1.00, and the lowest is -1.00. |
