-fills ductal lumen
-arises from ductal hyperplasia
-early malignancy without basement membrane penetration

-firm, fibrous "rock-hard" mass with sharp margins and small glandular duct-like cells
-worst and most invasive.

-Peau d'orange (breast skin resembles orange peel)
-50% survival at 5 years
Paget's disease
-Eczematous patches on nipple
-Paget cells = large cells in epidermis with clear halo
-suggests underlying cacinoma. Also seen on vulva
-commonly a/w invasive ducral carcinoma
Fibrocystic disease
-breast lumps from age 25 to menopause
-presents with premenstrual beast pain and multiple lesions, often bilateral
-fluctuation in size of mass
-usually does not indicate increased risk of carcinoma

-hyperplasia of breast stroma
Fibrocystic disease: Cystic
-fluid filled, blue dome, Ductal dilation
Fibrocystic disease: sclerosing adenosis
-increased acini and intralobular fibrosis. A/w calcifications
Fibrocystic disease: epithelial hyperplasia
-increase in number of epithelial cell layers in terminal duct lobule. Increased risk of carcinoma with atypical cells
-occurs in women >30 years of age
Fibroadenoma
-small mobile firm mass with sharp edges
-mc tumor in those <25 yrs
-increase in size and renderness with increase progesterone (preggers, menstration). Not a pre-cursur to breast cancer
intraductal papilloma
-MCC of bloody discharge in women <50
-Small tumor that grows in lactiferious ducts. Typically beneath arela
-slight increase risk for carcinoma

Phyllodes tumor
-large bulky mass of connective tissue and cysts "leaf-like" projections
-MC in 6th decade
-some may become malignant

"Phyllode was large and bulky and tried to phly with two leaves but this attempt became malignant"
