Asexual Reproduction

a mode of reproductionby which offspring arise from a single organism and inherit the genes of that parent only it is reproduction which almost never involves ploidy or reduction

Sexual reproduction

The process of sexual reproduction involves two parents Both parents normally contribute one gamete or sex cell to the process this process assures that the genetic information given to the offspring will be obtained equally from each parent the female gamete is called the egg or the ovum and the male gamete is called a sperm

Gamete

a mature haploid male or female germ cell that is able to unite with another of the opposite sex in sexual reproduction to form a zygote

Meiosis

a type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell as in the production of gametes and plant spores

Fertilization

the action or process of fertilizing an egg female animal or plant involving the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote

Diploid

containing two complete sets of chromosomes one from each parent

Haploid
