Characteristics of the renaissance italian

ECONOMICS mostly focused on the increase in commerce as well as important industries flourishing northern italy (printing & mining). The medici family was the richest family in florence that was influential in banking with lots of political power. Profit became important and guilds declined as well as the high profits leading into economic diversity.


SOCIETY mostly focused on being a family oriented societt while northern italy was urban and commercial. Marriages were arranged to strengthen businesses while portaits were mostly focused on the individual.


POLITICANS AND WRITERS was Niccoli Machiavelli who wrote a book called "the prince" goal was prince must be power. Fear is a better motivator than affection and politics was the art of deception. Henry VIII as a renaissance prince.


EDUCATION AND PHILOSOPHY was mostly the humanistic age (thinking and learning that stresses human abilities and actions) focus on studying grammar, history, poetry, rhetoric. Finding old docs was a big excitement and lead to critical examinations. (True liberal edu) Edu produces moral uplift abd there was a love for the study of history. Petrarch was the father of italian renaissance (humanist) who wrote summets to laura-imaginary. Wanted to comtinue work of classical writers and thought it was important to lead a full active life on earth.


ART AND ARCHITECTURE portraits were important as well as depiction of nudes. Imitation of natuee was a primary giak and Boticellis 'birth of venus'.
