- gently clean the body many times - body is put in a shroud - NO embalming, NO cremation, NO casket - Janazzah (funeral prayer) said over the body and 40 days & one year after the death - men take the body to the burial site - wailing is hugely discouraged - avoid crushing the body with earth - call to prayer for the living while the deceased answers questions about her faithfulness while on earth - night of the burial at the Mosque, Ya Sin is read (a chapter from the Qur'an) - everything is done within 24 hours |
