Constantine
1- emperor of the Roman Empire. He ordered the Edict of Mlan which eliminated persecutions of the Christians in the Roman Empire. Ceasaropapoism which means Constantine ruled the Roman Empire an the Church

1-He protected the citizens of the western Empire from the Barbarians, helped to convert the Barbarians, he cared for the poor and was wise and knowledgeable man.

1- Helped complete the reforms in the Church due to Lay investiture and indulgences called Gregorian Reform due to his hard work and commitment.
2-He temporarily helped stop corruption.

1-Set up the first Crusade to re-capture the Holy Land. 2-Because of him Indulgences were given a bad name. He promised the army if they went to fight in the Crusade they would all get special indulgences for salvation.
Pope Innocent III
1- Provided Spiritual leadership during the period of the high Middle Ages especially through the application of canon law. Fourth Lateran council 1215 transubstantiation.
2- He ruled over the Church and State which was a Theocracy.

1-German Emperor who signed the Concordat of Worms (1122)
2- The Pope now started to elect Church officials again and put an end to lay investiture.

1-Started the Dominican order he was a preacher who was very eloquent speaker. Dominicans are known for universities

Thomas Aquinas
1-Dominican Friar, best known of the medieval thinkers who was not afraid of knowledge even if it came from the Muslims or Greek Philosophers. If our faith tells one thing and reason tells us another, there is something wrong with the understanding of one of them. Faith does not contradict Truth.
2-Important for what he wrote and his approach to learning.
