‘If Godcaused/designed the universe, then who caused/ designedGod?
The Christian answer is that no one made God, he always existed. He’s what Aristotle(ancient Greek philosopher) refers to as the ‘prime mover’ (the first one to make thingshappen but doesn’t need anything to make it happen).
Arguments for not Believing inGod
Big BangEvolution &Natural SelectionUnanswered Prayer Some scientist believe theuniverse started as a result of a hugeconcentration of energy causing amassive explosion they call the BigBang. This can be seen as offering ascientific explanation for the universewithout the need for a God.

Some people would say thatunanswered prayers are evidencethat God doesn’t exist or peoplewould get answers to their prayers, particularly ones that are for thebenefit of others in tragic situations around the world.

Many people believe evolution andnatural selection are more logicalexplanations for the existence ofhumanity. Charles Darwin believedIn order to survive, life forms mustadapt (evolve) to their changingenvironment or die. The strongestand fittest will evolve maintainingthe existence of that particularspecies

ChristianResponse to Arguments for not Believing in God
Big BangEvolution &Natural SelectionUnanswered Prayer The creation story in Genesisstarts by God saying ‘Let there belight’ and so many Christians see thisas God causing the Big Bang which washis way of starting creation. Theseven-day creation is seen by manyas a poem not an historical account

Christians say that unansweredprayer may be down to our motivesor what we asking for (lottery win).If God’s answer to prayer is ‘No’ it’sstill an answer. Plus sometimes Godallows the world, nature and people to run its natural course.

Christians believe humanity is special, made to be able to connect spirituallywith God. Although they would notnormally believe in evolution (e.g. froman ape) they would accept we havedeveloped in skills, thinking and evenposture. They point out that there arefar too many missing links in the chainof evolutionary theoriesto be acceptable.

Christians say God gave humanity ‘free will’. This means the ability and right to choose. If God had not given free will, then people would have no choice but to believe in him and follow him, which is not true freedom

Christians believe that evil is not a result of God,but of choices humanity makes. For God to interveneand stop evil it would mean taking away our free will andimposing his will.

God did not make people as robots, they can choose to believe in God, or not;they can choose to do what is right, or not; they can choose to help people, or not.

What do religious people mean when they say that they believe in God?
When people say they believe in God they are talking about spiritual truth. They have faith that God exists and looks after them according to the teaching of their religion. These people cannot know that God exists in the way that a scientist knows that if you heat water eventually it will boil. This belief might be based on one of the arguments for the existence of God. In particular it might depend on the experience of God which the individual believer feels that they have had.

do you think everyone should have a religious upbringing ?

Yes, i do think that everyone should have a religious up bringing because, it gives a purpose of life , such as attending church regularly and praying to God, which sets their mind at ease and makes them a respected person in society. Also you can experience the religion and it can help you in life.

However, Others may disagree with me and say, No everyone shouldn't have a religious upbringing because it may cause conflict between parent and child , if the child decides not to following the belief. And the child has the free will to believe in any belief or not .You cannot brain wash children since their minds are innocent .

Explain how religious experiences may lead people to believing in God?

M U N C - MUN C

Miracles - miracles can cause belief in God because it makes you really believe that God is there , due to the fact that it is unexplained and it even breaks the laws of science so it makes you believe the only one person who could have done it would be God

Prayer - Praying could make you believe in God because you could pray for something for an example pray for your relative to get better because they are ill . And the next thing you know they become better , this makes you believe that God answered your pray so he does exist.

Numinous - Numinous is the feeling of the presences of something greater than you.

This could be a feeling you get when you enter the church or a holy place , after this experience you would never deny Gods existence again.

Conversion - Conversion is when you change religion or you start following a religion , this could be due to the feeling of Gods presences , which makes you more religious and changes your life.
