Abram/Ibrahim
According to Genesis, Abraham was brought by God from mesopotamie to the land of Canaan. There, Abraham entered into a covenant: in exchange for sole recognition of the Lord as the supreme universal deity and authority, Abraham will be blessed with innumerable progeny. Judaism, Chrisitianity, and Islam are sometimes referred to as the "Abrahamic religions" because of the progenitor role Abraham plays in their holy books.
Angels
Spiritual beings; Medieval Christians sought divine aid through prayers to the angels in heaven hoping htey would present their petitions to God in heaven. It was believed that some angels who reveled against God, the devil and his minions, exercised an evil influence over human beings that must be resisted through the power of prayer and the sacraments.
Anthropomorphism
the description of god in human terms. examples from the scriptures include 'the image of god', 'the hand of the lord', and 'his outstretched arm'
Apocalyptic
revelation of God's Will (the bible). we see a clear pattern of future events. the term is used as a revelation of hidden things revealed by God to a chosen prophet or apostle. The term is often used to describe the written account of such a revelation.
Apocypha
This is the term for the 2nd temple texts included in the Septuigen but not in the Hebrew bible. Apocypha literally means hidden or concealed.
