What does Amos 3:7 indicate?
Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
What does D&C 1:37-38 talk about?
"Search these commandments for they are true and faithful, and the prophecies and promises which are in them shall all be fulfilled. What i the lord have spoken, i have spoken, and i excuse not myseld; and though the heavens and the earth shall pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.
What is an oracle? (Three different meanings)
1. Revelation given by God through his prophets are oracles. First presidency recieves the orales for the whole church.
2. Men who recieve revelations or oracles for the people themselves are called oracles. The first presidency and 12 are living oracles. All those who preach the gospel by revelation, they are acting as oracles to their hearers.
3.Any sacred place where oracles are recieved is called an oracle. A temple is an oracle. Sacred revelatiosn or oracles given in such places warrant oracles.
What is a prophet?
A prophet is one who speaks, who is inspired of God to speak in his name. One who has a testimony of Jesus and possesses the spirit of prophecy is a prophet. All saints are entitled but only have certain realms of responsibilty in which they can prophecy.
What is a seer?
One who see things not visible to the natural eyes. Is able to intrepret and clarify eternal truths.
One may be a prophet without being a seer but a seer is essentially a prophet
What is a revelator?
Bearer of new or forgottoen truths. We are revelatees. Only the First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 are Prophets, seers and revelators.

What are some of the distinctive roles of the president of the church?

The presiding body of the church. The licing oracles of God.
What are some of the key meetings of the First Presidency?
Tues-Thursday at 8am: First Presidency meeting
Tues @10 am- Expenditures with presiding bishopric
Thurs morning at 10 am- Meeting with the quorum of the 12.
First Thursday of every month is for all the general authorities- Advised of any changes that are made.

If the First presidency is followed, the church will NEVER go astray!

What is the process of transition for sucession?
The presidency is dissolved. The most senior apostle calls his new counselor to the first presidency. There is no moment without keys and authority.
-Seniority is choosen by date of ordination not age.
-The lords choses the prophet to be the man for each season in time.

Mortal:Reason and the scientific method as a base for knowledge
Eternal: Reason and scientific method as appropriate. Recieve revelation from God. Rely on Gods omniscience.

-Trust in the prophets to guide us to truth.

-Avoid peronal interpretation as revealed truth
What is inappropriate intellectualism?
When you judge the church and its programs against secular or professinal perspectives. You interpret and adopt principles that are based on individual preference. You do not allow intellect to ever trump your testimony.

sustaining the Lords Anointed. We vote, elect, sustain, ratify, but we dont nominate.
Is it ever permissable to with hold a sustaining vote?
Yes but under limited circumstances. If we have knowledge of a serious transgression it is our right to vote in opposition. Its best to vote along and then mention it after to prevent embarrasment
What is the samuel principle?
If the people reject the Lords choice, he may select one who the people want. They reject the Lord not the person.Israelites asked samuel for a king, he prayed about it, and the lord agreed to grant them what they wished.
