- Performs simple repetitive ADL (I)
- Can live at home w/ support
- Can follow simple verbal and demonstrational cues

- Becomes increasinglyf forgetful
-Becomes unable to follow and sequence written cues
-Becomes unable to perform familiar, challenging activities
-Experiences difficulty in word finding
-Cannot manage at home without assitance
-Begin withdrawing from faimly/friends; socialization becomes difficult

***Physician can detect clear cognitive problems during patient interview and exam.
Stage 3
No dementia
Mild Cognitive Decline
Beginning signs and deficits are noted
Avg duration: 7 yrs before onset of dementia.
*Strengths*
- (I) in IADL
- Recognizes challenging situations to avoid to minimize deficits
- Can use compensatory techniques

*Weaknesses*
-Forgets important info
-Experiences difficulty completing complex tasks
-Experiences difficulty negotiating directions to new location
-Difficulty concentrating
-Decreased work performance

No Dementia
Very mild cognitive decline
Person complains about forgetting normal age-related information (location of objects, keys, wallet)
