Real property

Fixed and immovable.

3 categories of real property 1) A land material of the earth, such as soil, and rock. 2) Appurtenances objects,rights, or interests that are incidental to the land and go with or pertain to the land. 3) thing affixed to the land. Example: trees, walls, buildings, fixtures, cement, plaster, nails, or screws.

Personal property

Movable. Example's: furniture, cars, jewelry, annual crops (emblements), stock in a corporation.

What are fixtures?

A thing that starts out as personal property, but then is attached to the land in such a manner as to be considered real property .

Example's: lumber, personal property, becomes a fixture when it is used to build a pergola.
