What are the 7 Sacraments?

Baptism, reconciliation, the eucharist, confirmation, marrige, holy orders, anoiting of the sick.

what is a sacrament?

a religious ritual in the life of the church.

what is sacramental reality?

finding the grace of god within a physical world. catholics beleive that although god is invisible, he speaks to humans through everything he touches.

what is a S of A for sacramental reality?

"the heavens declare the glory of god, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork"- Psalm

what is baptism?

it marks the entry into the catholic church, it is a sacrament initation.

water, white, words, candle, oils, church.



(water- poured 3 times, white - sign of purity, words - " I baptise you in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit", candle - lit to show jesus will light the way, oil- chrism to anoit the child/sign of strength, church - in the presence of god"

why is baptism important?

it is the basis of christian life, a person cannot recieve other sacraments without it.

what is reconciliation?

to forgive sins.

what is the practice and symbolism of reconciliation ?

a person confesses their sins to god in the presence of a priest who will then give you prayers to say (penance)

what is confirmation?

the chance for a person to make up their mind about if they want to continue their faith.

what is marraige?

It is the joining of man and woman in the eyes of god. Rings are blessed by the priest and are a symbol of everlasting love.

what are holy orders?

When a person becomes a catholic priest. They beleive they have a vocation to carry out the work of god.

What is the anoiting of the sick?

a blessing for people who are extreamly ill. it isthe giving of healing strength through the holy spirit.

What is a Baptists veiw on the 7 sacraments?

they beleive that they are expressions of faith rather than a communication of gods grace.
