Raynaud’s Disease: What is it? (pathology?)
Episodic disorder effects small cutaneous arteries in hand/toes. Vasospasm occurs causing color change to finger, toes, ears, nose. Low blood flow causes digits to become cyanotic from hyper uremic response when perfusion occurs. Occurs to finger tips. Is a vasospastic disorder causing discoloration of the fingers, toes, and occasionally other areas. This condition can also cause nails to become brittle with longitudinal ridges. The phenomenon is believed to be the result of vasospasms that decrease blood supply to the respective regions.

Emotional stress and cold are classic triggers of the phenomenon.
