(Dilated or hypertrophic cardiomyopathies, long QT interval/syndrome, coronary artery disease, WPW syndrome, right ventricular dysplasia, rupture of aortic aneurysm in Marfan syndrome, aortic stenosis.) CXR, EKG or echocardiogram is not routinely done for all athletes, but it should be if history and physical examination suggest. Same rules apply to all children. Death is preceded by exertion or exercise. |
