Role of Aminotransferases in Dx hepatitis

Serum aminotransferases are sensitive markers for liver cell injury but they are NOT SPECIFIC for liver injury .

also present in heart ,skeletal muscle, brain.

Serum aminotransferases show variable increase in the prodromal phase of acute viral hepatitis ,however the acute level of these enzymes does not correlate well with the degree of liver. damage .

Rate limiting Enzymes

1.HMGcoA reductase-cholestrol synthesis.

2.Phosphofructokinase-Glycolysis.

3.Acetyl CoA carboxylase-

Fatty acid synthesis.

4.Tyrosine hydroxylase-catecholamine synthesis.
