Animal Life

olivia

O: One species of animal in the rainforest is the toucan. Another common bird is parrots. Both of these avians consume fruits, nectars and sometimes small insects. Spider monkeys also hang on trees in the rainforest. They snack on flowers and insects. In similar families, ocelots and jaguars populate the rainforest, preying on small animals such as baby alligators. Gorillas, who are endangered because of habitat loss, live in as much of this biome they can find. They eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, along with caterpillars. An organism known well in the rainforest is the red eyed tree frog. It protects itself from predators by showing them its vibrant colors, which represent that it is poisonous! Lastly, the blue morpho butterfly is a beautiful accent to the forest.
