-The Paris commune forced the Legislative Assembly to call for a National Convention

-The minister of justice was George's Danton, and along with the commoners seemed for revenge and killed a lot of people

The Fate of the King
-In 1792, France ruled by the National Convention, on September 21, 1792, the national convention abolished the monarchy and created the French Republic

-The convention split up into:
a) Girondins (included France's provinces)
b) Mountain (radicals from the city, Paris)

-The mountain won in 1793, condemning Louis XVI, and Marie A. to be killed at the guillotine
Crisis and Response
-The French government had several problems:
a) the commune wanted radical positions
b) some communities wanted to restore monarchy

-Countries in Europe ( Austria, Prussia, Spain, Portugal, Britain, and the Dutch Republic) wanted a war against France

-In order to control the problems, the National convention (Mountain) created a committee of Public safety, dominated by Danton, and then by Robespierre
The Reign of terror
-The national convention and the committee of Public safety began a reign of terror

-It was called like that because they would kill whoever was agains the Revolution.
