Emmissive Power
total rate of energy lost from a surface due to radiation heat transfer per unit area: function of the absolute temperature and emissivity
Emissivity
ratio of total emissive power from a real surface relative to a blackbody
Absorptivity
fraction of irradiation that is absorved by surface
Diffuse Irradiation
radiant energy that is arriving at the surface and is the sum of emission and reflection from other surfaces in the enclosure and is independent of angle (direction).
Blackbody Irradiation
radiant energy has the spectral distribution of a blackbody so that the irradiation is equal to the emissive power of a black body at the same temperature.
Surface Properties of Gray Surface
Emission and reflection are independent of wavelength
Surface Properties of Diffuse Surface
Emission and reflection are independent of direction
Radiosity (J)
sum of emissive power and reflected irradiation from a surface.
