First American newspaper. Created by Benjamin Harris; September 26, 1690.
Boston Newspaper.
Had more stoires that people wanted to hear. They had politics, & juicy little stories.
John Peter Zenger.
First big name in journalism. In 1735 he got put in jail for speaking his mind on his paper. Eventually the Freedom of Speach was established.
Penny Press.
Created by Benjamin Day. The newspaper was only 1 cent. When it was originally 10 cent. Now, everyone could afford to buy/read the paper.
Lords of the Press.
Journalist that lied in the paper, because everyone believed what they said.
Matthew Brady.
he was the first person to actually put pictures in the newspaper. The first ones were of the Civil War.
Telegraph.
Invented in the 1860's. It helped speed up the news. Made it possible for people to get news faster.
The Yellow Kid.
A cartoon that the Lords of the Press used to make fun of each other.
Nellie Bly.
Went undercover to get what was really going on; In sweat shops & insane asylum. She also took a hot air baloon around the world.
Joseph Politzer.
Born in Hungry, 1847. He started out as nothing, and made his way to the top of all newspapers from buying an old paper.
