Discrimination

Is the denial of opportunities and equal rights to individuals and groups because of prejudice or other arbitrary reasons

Absolute deprivation

implies a fixed standard based on a minimum level of subsistence below which familes should not be expected to exist

refers to the efforts to ensure that hazardous substances are controlled so that all communities recieve protection regardless of race or socioeconomical circumstance.

Is the positive effort to recruit subordinate-group members, including women, for jobs, promotions and educational opportunities

Reverse discrimination

is an emotional term, it conjures up the notion that somehow women and minorities will subject With men in the US to the same treatment recieved by minorities during the last three centuries.





Glass ceiling

Refers to the barrier that blocks the promotion of a qualifies worker because of gender or minority membership

Glass escalator

refers to the White males advantage experienced in occupatoins dominated by women. Men are more likely to be advantaged when they move out of sex-typical jobs

Glass walls

means an invisible barrier that blocks the promotion of a qualified individual in a work environment because of the individual's gender, race, or ethnicity.
