What does the HBOV do?
|
Vents LP bleed air (which is cooler than HP air) through a steel precooler downstream of the HPSOV to cool off the HP bleed air. Air leaving the precooler vents out the top of the engine.
This cooling is so bleed air entering the Air Cycle Machine is a satisfactory temperature. The HBOV also helps prevent comprssor surge and stall. |
