A repeating of an essence of a research study usually with different participants in a different setting.
Case Study
An observable technique in which one person is studied in depth in the hopes of revealing a universal principle.
Survey
A technique of ascertaining the self reported attitudes or behaviors of a particular group usually by questionnaire.
Population
All the cases in a group being studied from which the sample in drawn

Scatter-plot
A graphed cluster of dots each representing the values of two variables. The slope of the points suggests the direction of the relationship between the two variables.
Illusory Correlation
The perception of a correlation where one does not exist.
Experiment
A research method in which the investigator manipulates the independent variable(s) to observe the effect of the dependent variable on a behavior/ mental process.
Random Assignment
Assigning participants to experimental and control groups by chance thus minimizing preexisting differences between the two groups.
Double- Blind Procedure
An experimental process by which neither the research nor the participants know which group is the control group and the experimental group.
