Adaptive
Attachments give our species an adaptive advantage. Without attachment we are less likely to survive.
Social Releasers
Babies have these, they unlock the natural tendency of an adult to want to care for a baby.
Critical Period
Babies must form an attachment between birth and the age of 2 and a half. If this doesn't happen the child will be damaged for life.
Monotropy
This is the one very special attachment that a baby will make with its mother (or another ever-present parent if the mother is unavailable)
Internal Working Model
This is a model which a child will base all future relationships on.
