What is Munchausen's Syndrome

-More common in women except for most severe type, Munchausen's, that is more common in men.
- hx of childhood medical issues, childhood emotional/physical abuse, grudge against the medical profession, and/or severe personality disorder (often Borderline PD) is common. - Course is intermittent episodes. |

How is Fictitious Disorder different from malingering and somatoform disorder?
|
Like Malingering, it is intentional, but with no secondary gain
Unlike Somatoform, it is volitional and symptoms are intentionally produced. |

|
A. physical complaints before age 30
B. 4 pain sxs, 2 gastrointestinal sxs, 1 sexual sxs, 1 pseudoneurological sxs * not intentionally produced |
