-fear/anxiety has been learned and can be Unlearned
-replacing maladaptive behaviors with adaptative behaviors

Aversion Therapy
-punishing unwanted behavior, creating averse responce to unwanted behav.
ex: putting something in alcoholic bev that makes people sick
Token Economy
-rewarding wanted behavior
ex: earning stickers or stars that could by something else
Exposure Therapy
-confronting emotion, provoking stimulus Directly/Repeatedly.
-usually coupled with relaxing activity
a) systematic desensitization= step by step desensitization.
ex: toy spider in room-closer-on hand
Cognitive Therapy
-most commonly used with depression
-Goal: identify arbitrary inferences/selective obstruction
a) Cognitive Restructuring- questioning maladaptive negative responses and replacing them with positive cognition.
Group Therapy
-more than one client is present,
-can have couples, families, unrelated people
-related by problem=support group
