Either a response elicited by a conditioned stimulus or an operant response that has been strengthened by reinforcement.
Conditioned Response
A stimulus that elicits a response because that stimulus has been paired with another stimulus that elicits that or a similar response.
Conditioned Stimulus
Conditioning a response to a stimulus that is incompatible with another response elicited by the same stimulus.
Counterconditioning
A procedure in which a stimulus becomes a conditioned stimulus by being paired with another conditioned stimulus instead of an unconditioned stimulus.
Higher-Order Conditioning
Behaviour that is influenced by its consequences.
Operant Behaviours
The process of strengthening a behaviour by reinforcing it; or weakening a behaviour by punishing it.
Operant Conditioning
Behaviour that is elicited by stimuli and that is or can be learned to be elicited by other stimuli through respondent conditioning.

A research design in which a behaviour is monitored in two or more individuals concurrently and, in a staggered fashion, the intervention is introduced sequentially to the behaviour of each of the individuals.
Multiple-Baseline-Across-People Design
A research design in which a behaviour is monitored in two or more situations, and in a staggered fashion, the intervention is introduced sequentially to the behaviour in each of the situations.
Multiple-Baseline-Across-Situations Design
The return of a treated behaviour to its level prior to treatment.
