Infantile Amnesia
adults not being able to remember memories before age 2.
Causes of Infantile Amnesia:
lack language development
lack sense of self
lack brain development
factors effecting how long children can remember:
exposure time
deviation from routine
reminders
organization of events
timing of the reminder
social interaction (talking about it)
working memory capacity
Reconstructive nature of memories:
details fade overtime, can only remember the gist of it.
Consolidation Effect:
forgetting occurs most rapid recently then memory doesn't change that much.
