How did I get sample size |
I used a power analysis calculator with a power of 0.8 and an alpha criterion of .05. I also consulted prior research that utilized EEG and hypnograms to measure sleep. In studies I looked at the groups ranged from 10-30 participants |

Random assignment |
I will use random assignment to assign participants into either the experiment or control group |

Experiment group |
Will receive 200mg of caffeine daily between 6-7pm and produce a daily hypnogram |

Control group |
Will produce a hypnogram once a day for the duration of the experiment |

Keeping track of data |
I will use the islands tasks menu to save participants graphs and Microsoft excel to track their exact daily N3 sleep times |

T-test |
The appropriate T-test for my data is an independent samples T-test because I have two groups and I am comparing their means |

To get exact values from the hypnogram line graphs I will use a plot digitizer which is an online tool that lets me accurately measure data points on graphs |

I will use Jamovi to conduct a t-test with the data I have stored in Microsoft excel. |
