Henry VIII's only son. Mother is Jane Seymour. He was the ruler after Henry VIII at age 9 or 10 and was Protestant. He died at around age 16.

Mary Tudor (Mary I)

Henry VIII's first surviving daughter. The ruler after Edward VI. Catherine of Aragon was her mother. She was Catholic.

Elizabeth I

Henry VIII's daughter. Her mother is Anne Boelyn. The ruler after Mary Tudor. She was Protestant.

Ghetto

The section of a city in which Jews and other minority groups were confined in.

The rule of England. He passed the Act of Supremacy and changed England's church to Protestant for the first time.

Indulgences

Things given out to "erase" sins. They are rewarded for large good deeds or, in the Renaissance, money.

Inquisition

The court of the Roman Catholic Church to give out punishments for heresies.

Jane Seymour

Henry VIII's third wife and the "love of his life". She had Edward VI but died shortly after childbirth.

John Calvin

The man who developed Calvinism. In Calvinism, a major belief is predestination.

Lutheranism

Another name for Protestantism. A Christian religion where everything is based on the Bible and there is no papal control.

Martin Luther

The man who developed Lutheranism and started the Protestant Reformation.

Peace of Augsburg

A treaty that recognized the division of the Holy Roman Empire into Catholic and Protestant states.

Predestination

The belief that God has chosen where you you go after you die long before you existed so that nothing you do in your lifetime will alter it.

Prince Frederick of Saxony

A large supporter of Martin Luther who kidnapped him for safety after the Diet of Worms.

Protestant Reformation

The time period when Protestantism was created, grew in popularity and gained more followers.
