Boiler
|
To convert chemical energy in H20 to thermal energy in steam (turn water to steam)

Super heater
|
1 per boiler. Raises the temperature of saturated steam to 875 degrees at 630 PSI. Located inside the boiler between the screen wall tubes, and the generating tubes. Three pass, uncontrolled super heater.

Desuperheater
|
1 per boiler. Lowers the temperature of superheated steam to 560 degrees at 600 PSI. Located in the steam drum, submerged under feed water. Single pass, indirect type. Superheated steam passes through the pip giving up some heat to the feed water.

De-airating Feed Tank (DFT)
|
There is only 1.
Three purposes. 1. Removes dissolved oxygen for condensate. 2. Preheat the condensate. 3. Stores feed water. Located in the Fire room, STBD side, upper level. Operating range is between 1400-1 900 gal, 13-24 PSI, 246-252 degrees F |

Main feed pump
|
3 of them. Pumps feed water to the boilers, first through the economizer, then into the steam drum. Located in the Fire room upper level. Pumps 265 GPM, between 600-825 PSI.

Main feed booster pump
|
Pumps water from the DFT to the main feed pumps. Located in the Fire room, STBD side, lower level. Pumps 295 GPM, between 35-70 PSI.

|
|
Economizer
|
1 per boiler. Uses heat from stack gas to pre-heat feed water before entering the steam drum. Located on top of each boiler in ductwork to the stack. Raises feed water temp from 250 to 370 degrees F.

|
Forced draft blowers
|
2 per boiler. Delivers air to the boilers for combustion. Located in the space above the Fire room, next to oil lab. Motor driven.

|
Economizer 2
|
Raises feed water temp from 250 to 370 degrees F.

|
|

|
Pumps 295 GPM, between 35-70 PSI.
