NEEDS STATEMENT
Provides the rational for the request for funding and uses data and other objective resources that substantiate the need for finding a solution to the concern; generally used in seeking funding for programs or services.

Purpose: to make compelling statement of the conditions/issues that leads to your proposed course of action, lays the condition for your proposal, rooted in factual information, does NOT present the proposed course of action.
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)
Application packets containing full instructions and all the forms needed to submit the proposal.

The situation that generates the need for writing; governmental agencies.
CONTRACT
Represents a procurement or purchase arrangement in which the contracting agency “buys” services from the organization or an individual to fulfill the contracting agency’s obligations or responsibilities.
GRANT
Assistance given to an organization or individual to accomplish the stated purposes and objectives (project.)
PROPOSAL
A written document prepared to apply for funding.
FUNDER
The government, foundation, or corporate resource to whom the proposal is submitted to.
APPLICANT
A non-profit agency applying for grant.
SOCIAL INDICATORS
Uses descriptive data found in public records and reports ie: race, age, gender, crime rate, general social conditions (overcrowding, accessibility to service).

THE FIVE A's
-Availability: Availability of services. Are the hours of operation convenient for the client?
-Accessibility: Where are the services located? Can the client get to the site? Does it take special physical needs into consideration, such as supplying access for people in wheelchairs?
-Acceptability: How do clients perceive the services? Is the decor and design of the service's setting inviting and respectful of the client?
-Appropriateness: Is the service the right one for the client? Will the service address the problem it is advertised to?
-Adequacy: Is the service sufficient in amount to meet the community's needs? Are services as comprehensive as possible?
