1)The sinfulness of Judah: forsaking the Lord, religious system that epitomized disobedience.
2) Judgment: via Babylon if the people did not repent. (conditional prophecy) 3) New Covenant: God would work directly on the hearts of his people, ritual without morality would cease. 4) Future of Judah: Return from exile... looking to the Messianic age when Israel & the nations would be blessed by a Davidic ruler. |

In spite of the repeated provocations (profaning his name) of His People, YHWH himself would bring about their new birth and accomplish the goal of saving people for himself. He would see the story through to its conclusion - do the people of Judah want to have a part in that?
