What is the proper process for reporting to an Officer indoors?
The soldier removes his/her headgear, knocks and enters when told so. He approaches within 2 steps of the officers desk, halts, salutes, and reports. The salute is held until report is complete and salute has been returned by officer. When business is complete, the soldier salutes and holds salute until returned by officer. He/She then executes an about face and departs. The same is done when reporting under arms except headgear is not removed and soldier renders salute prescribed for the weapon which he is armed.
Salutes are not required to be rendered or returned when the senior or subordinate, or both are what?
In civilian attire.
Engaged in work routine where salutes would interfere.

The soldier moves rapidly towards the officer and comes to a halt approximately three steps from the officer, salutes, and reports. When business is completed, salutes are exchanged again.
