- The Anti-Saloon League
-Drinking/going to bars became associated with missing work/not supporting families/wasting cash
-Main beers were German, said to be unpatriotic
-End of war 3/4 of states prohibition
How did Prohibition lead to organised crime?
-People were willing to pay gangsters for booze
-Many in law enforcement were involved with gangsters, often getting paid to keep quiet
-Gangs controlled with protection rackets, murders ran crimes like a business.
What impact did Prohibtition and organised crime have on society?
-Showed corruption in law enforcement
-Crime rates increased dramatically
-Showed how flawed the law system was, many involved with gangs

-Sept-29 Oct 1929, prices edged down. Black Tuesday they collapsed
-Many went bankrupt, homes were lost
-Banks collapsed, savings lost
-Demand for goods fell, wages/jobs lost
