After passing the syringe the dental assistant rinses the area of the mouth with the water syringe and removes access water with HVE.

Step 2

The dental assistant or dentist places the rubber dam on the affected tooth. the dental assistant should tell patient the purpose of the dental dam for any concerns.

Step 3

The dentist will create an opening in the tooth with a handpiece. the dental assistant keeps the rubber dam debris free, but the dental assistant has to stay clear of dentist sight.

Step 4

The Dentist will use the slow handpiece and round bur to remove caries and get into the pulp chamber. The dental assistant may rinse area for the dentists' field of view.

Step 5

The dentist may want to use the endodontic spoon excavator to remove caries and the explorer to to locate the pulp champer and canal openings/

Step 6

The assistant will pass a barbed broach for the dentist to remove the pupal tissue from the root canal. Dentist may want plenty broaches, especially is the tooth has more than one root.

Step 7

The assistant passes a #10 and #15 reamer with stoppers to measure the length of each canal. The assistant exposes a radiograph so the dentist can measure the length of the canals with files or reamers. The radiograph and working length of the canals are recorded on patients chart.

Step 8

The assistant passes any other files in progression until the proper width and length of the canal are achieved. The patients final size and length are noted on their patient chart.

Step 9

The assistant passes the irrigating syringe with irrigating solution to the dentist. the dentist then irrigated yhr canal(s). the assistant must keep the tip of the HVE close to the tooth so the irrigating solution is aspirated and not splashing everywhere on the patient, dentist, or assistant.

Step 10

The assistant passes paper points with locking cotton pliers and repeatedly passes the paper points until the canal(s) are completely dry.

Step 11

The assistant passes a small cotton pellet containing medication to the dentist and then the dentist places it on the tooth. (this is the dentist filling the tooth.)

step 12

A master gutta percha point is selected to match the size and width of the last file used in each canal. The assistant exposes a radiograph to verify the proper length and seal.

Step 13

The assistant mixes the endodontic sealer to a creamy consistency and passes it to the dentist, who then coats the tip of the master gutta percha point. The dentist places the gutta percha with cement into the canal.

Step 14

The assistant passes the endodontic spreader and additional accessory gutta percha points and continues to pass the spreader and ass point until each canal is full.

Step 15

The dental assistant passes the endodontic condenser and prepares the torch. The assistant holds some gauzes and holds the HVE tip close to the tooth

Step 16

The dentist heats the tip of the endodontic condenser and melts the Excess gutta percha material off. Its important to heat the instrument adequately to avoid removing the gutta percha filling from canal. the assistant ensures that the HVE tip aspirates any smoke and recieves the melted gutta percha from dentist with a gauze.

Step 17

The assistant prepares temporary filling material and passes the woodson. The Dentist places the filling. the assistant passes the dentist a lightly dampened cotton applicator, who then uses it to smooth the temporary respiration.

Step 18

The assistant uses the HVE and air/water syringe to ensure that the rubber dam is rinsed with no debris. The rubber dam is then removed and the assistant freshens the patients mouth by rinsing it and aspirating.

Step 19

The assistant dries the tooth and passes the articulating paper to the dentist. The dentist will then ask the patient to lightly tap their teeth together. If necessary, the dentist will adjust the occlusion with the woodson, cotton applicator or a round bur and slow speed handpiece

Step 20

The assistant exposes a final radiograph and provides postoperative instructions to the patient.
