Theoretical Probability
Reflects the operation of randomness along with certain assumptions we make about the events.
Ex: Probability of getting heads when coin is weighted
Rules of Probability
Addition Rule and Multiplicaiton Rule
Addition Rule
P(A or B)= P(A)+ P(B); Assumes mutually exclusive outcomes the probability of all outcomes is 1
EX: Probability of rolling a die and getting a 2 or 4
Multiplication Rule
Independent outcomes: The occurence of one does not change the liklihood of the other.
EX: P(heads on both coins)= P(heads 1st) * P(heads 2nd)
(.5)*(.5)=.25
