U.S. History

The Most Difficult part: World War 1
World War 1 was the most difficult subject in the beginning because I didn't grow up with American History so I knew nothing about the 1st world war. Thankfully Mrs. Franklin taught us at a pace just right for newbies like me and I was able to fully understand and 'enjoy' learning the subject.
U.S. History

I'm especially proud of...
Zeppelin: World War 1
Zeppelins were huge airships invented in 1900 by a German, Count von Zeppelin. Hydrogen gas was used to provide lift, and small engines propelled the airship through the sky. By 1914 the Zeppelin could reach a maximum speed of 140 kph and reach a height of about 4,000 meters.
Spanish

You can see I've improved in Spanish because...
I've made better grades.
I found ways to enjoy learning the subject by myself and found that I learned much better outside of the classroom than in.
Physics

These pieces show how I can assess my own learning
because...
In physics you have to assess most of your work, you tell Mr. Owens what you feel you need help with and what you are extremely happy with. That's how we get the majority of our grades.
Physics

Accessing and Analyzing Information
In Physics most students if not all use Kahn Academy. Sal is our life saver. Sal posts videos explaining how to do almost anything in physics. Generally we have an assignment option for goal 1 in every unit to do Kahn Academy for a grade. We take notes and summarize. It's like getting a free 100 and understanding everything in depth.
Geometry

The hardest part was
Chapter Definitions.
These killed me. We do definitions so we can remember theorems and postulates... Yeah memorization may be very easy for me but not when it comes to math. I have to work ten times harder than some people to do well in this class. Thanks to the help of friends I have been doing well.
Academic Support

This piece shows how I can take charge of my own learning because...
In Academic support I literally do all my homework for the week and sometimes even more. I have gotten more organization done and so much work. I had my tonsils removed in November and had about 15 missing assignments in Physics. Overload freak-out. I got all 15 assignments including quizzes and tests done in the span of about a week and a half thanks to this class.

Leading by Influence

Agility and Adaptability
Leading by influence involves working with others and doing what they do. You are a leader; you shouldn’t make somebody do something you wouldn’t do.

I'm taking my time around a busy Junior year schedule to work with freshman, sophomore and juniors to help them get organized and stay organized.
U.S. History

I'm especially proud of...
Zeppelin: World War 1
It was equipped with five machine-guns and could carry 2,000 kg of bombs. Navigation was very primitive, and as the war progressed the British used blackouts to make it even harder. Bomb aiming was far from accurate. It is estimated that only 10% of the bombs dropped from Zeppelins actually hit their target.
U.S. History

I'm especially proud of...
Zeppelin: World War 1
The Germans tried to use the Zeppelin as a type of air warfare, dropping bombs with it. However, it didn't work because it moved too slowly and was shot down too easily. Zeppelins were used for raiding many things and used for many other things
