Orienting, training, and development

Training: process by which organizations equip employees with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform their jobs.
HR departments design training programs unique to position to assure employees can meet goals and expectations.
"According to industry experts, within the next five to ten years up to 85 percent of jobs in North America and Europe will demand extensive industry knowledge that spans international boarders"
Development programs: provide employees with competencies required for success
Programs include leadership development, mentoring, on-the-job training, and job rotation.
Programs allow greater performance by avoiding deficiencies of knowledge, providing greater satisfaction among employees, greater responsibilities and job autonomy, and the ability to recruit from within the company, avoiding the cost of having to hire from outside.
One Canadian study that assessed organizational results from training found that organizations with greater investment in training had
14.1 percent higher profits
13.7 percent higher productivity
5.7 percent higher revenues than organizations with lesser investment in training.
Who develops and initiates these programs? -Dedicated HR departments who add value to their respective companies through their actions.
